Bookmark file checker

Upload the bookmark HTML file your browser exported and see how many links it holds, which URLs are saved twice, and which folders are empty.

Or click to choose a file. Parsing happens entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.

The file is parsed locally. It never leaves your browser and no network request is made.

How do I export my bookmarks?

Chrome / Edge: Bookmarks → Bookmark manager → three-dot menu → Export bookmarks. Safari: File → Export → Bookmarks. Firefox: Library → Import and Backup → Export Bookmarks to HTML. Pocket's historical export used the same format.

Common questions

Is my bookmark file uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing uses the browser's built-in DOMParser and runs entirely on your device. The page makes no network requests and there is no backend endpoint — you can disconnect from the network and it still works.
Does it detect dead links?
No, and that is a browser security boundary: page scripts cannot read response status codes from another site. Server-side probing is not a good substitute either, because datacenter IPs get blocked by many sites and working links get flagged as dead. This tool checks structure instead: duplicates, empty folders, counts and domain spread.
Which export formats are supported?
Any standard Netscape bookmark HTML file — what Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox all export, and what Pocket used to export. JSON and CSV are not supported.

Found a pile of duplicates and empty folders? Folding them into one page beats deleting them one by one.
